Evaluation sheet for Guests of the IWM

  1. What would you consider to be the major benefits of your stay at IWM?

Acquaintance with new attractive academic milieu and brilliant scientific management (special thanks to Mary Nicklas, Ana Mohoric, Hanna Mueller and other colleagues)

Improvement of academic and language skills

Reading literaturefrom the IWM Library

  1. Was the event programme of the IWM attractive and interesting for you?

Yes, it was attractive. Unfortunately, many conversations, which were interested to me, were in German. But it is my problem.

  1. Do you have any criticisms of any aspect of the Institute’s program and operations?

Several conversations were particularly politicized. To my mind, the academic essence of problems is suffering from that. Contemporary political context is quite important for us, but it is changing rapidly, in contrast to academic questions.

  1. Please provide a brief report on your activities and what you have accomplished during your research stay.

I had been preparing a paper for the Workshop “Eurasianism: Evolution and Relevance” (March, 27). The topic of my report was “Jural aspects of Classical Eurasianism: the concept of Law”. Christina Poessel edited the final version of the paper, I am very grateful to her. In order to complete my work, I analyzed writings of Carl Schmitt which I borrowed from the IWM library. I am going to publish an artickle concerning the intellectual path of Schmitt and interrelationship between him and the Eurasianists (Alexeyev, etc.).

The workshop was substantial and interesting. It was very important to discuss Eurasianism with colleagues from Russia, USA, Western Europe. Special thanks to Tatyana Zhurzhenko and Galin Tihanov.
